During the pandemic, the Government aimed to suspend free travel for young people under-18 in order to bail out Transport for London. This would've had disastrous effects not only on young people but the economy at large- exacerbating inequality. Mr. Awomoyi worked with other London MYPs, senior politicians from across the spectrum, and the Child Poverty and Action Group (CPAG) to develop a campaign strategy in order to reverse the Government's decision. Ultimately, the campaign named "Don't Zap the Zip" was successful and the Government reversed the decision. Mr. Awomoyi and his team won the SMK Young Campaigner of the Year Award in 2021 as a result of the campaign's success. Mr. Awomoyi was also invited to attend the UK's Youth Parliament sitting in the House of Commons. He also co-wrote a letter to the Government during the pandemic to provide young people with adequate technology for education and to provide free school meals for underprivileged youths.

It's important to note that the London average for both serious youth violence and knife was increasing while Croydon's had been decreasing.Mr. Awomoyi was able to effect change by lobbying and administering the Croydon's Young Mayor's Fund- which granted £20,000 to young people to boost creative expression.
